RESPONSIBILITIES OF DISTRICT JUDGE

The District Courts are vitally important to the citizens of our State, since they are the primary trial courts in Texas. The Texas District Courts have jurisdiction to handle:
  • felony criminal cases
  • cases involving official misconduct
  • divorces and all other family law cases
  • termination of parental rights
  • juvenile cases
  • suits for title to land
  • suits for slander or defamation
  • some contested probate matters
  • and civil cases where the amount in controversy is greater than $500, with no maximum limit
For this important court, we need judges who will be fair and impartial, and who will make rulings based on the evidence and the applicable laws, regardless of the Judge’s personal beliefs or the parties involved.
